Or imagine doing it while you haven't talked to your husband in weeks, and seen him in months. What about giving birth alone? Raising children alone? What about dealing with loss alone? This is the life of Marine Wives, Marine Moms, Marine Daughters, Marine Sons, Marine Husbands, Marine Brothers, the list goes on.

- My fiance is in Iraq right now and it can be so hard. You can't even describe it or understand if you haven't gone through it.

- I can understand that there are a lot of young girlfriends/wives on here that have never dealt with being separated from their marine until now. All I can say is that it takes a special woman to be able to handle long term separation. If you don't learn to be independent and trusting then it won't work, bottom line. I'm not saying it will be easy, but seriously, if you know you can't be independent then you may want to re-evaluate. Marines will be marines and some will cheat and some won't. If you trust yours, you're golden. I really hope everyone is doing well and finds the answers and support they are looking for during their separation.

- My husband is currently in 29 Palms, CA. We have been best friends since 6th grade and have been a coule for almost 5 years. We just recently got married on his 10 day leave from boot camp in SD, Ca in July! He left 2 days after we got married! I talk to him everyday but I can't stand not being around my new husband/best freind! He is at his MOS and is told it will be a year and a half. He should be getting his company on Tue then he is going to get on the list for married housing. Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get housing?
